EIN

Essentially your Employer Identification Number is like a social security number for your business. There are two you need to apply for. One is your FEIN or Federal Employer Identification Number and the other is your State Employer Id Number. Your EIN is required by the IRS to file taxes for you business and to open bank accounts. If you apply for grants in your business name, it will be required there as well.
