At the St. Louis Arts Chamber, we believe that artists have vital insights and tools to offer when it comes to tackling public issues.
What Is Creative Placemaking?
The term “creative placemaking” is used commonly in community development and city or urban planning. Creative placemaking happens through the use of arts and community by diverse partners to strategically shape the physical and social character of a place in order to spur economic development, promote enduring social change, and improve the physical environment.
Key to Creative Placemaking is the involvement of the residents of an area. At St. Louis Arts Chamber of Commerce, we review surveys, attend resident meetings for their input, and work with local planners and leaders to address issues identified by residents through our Creative Placemaking initiative.

How does SLACC facilitate long-term change through Creative Placemaking?
Creative placemaking unites artists, designers, and communities to inspire meaningful local change.
Together, we spark economic growth, strengthen social ties, and reimagine shared spaces.

Connect With Communities
SLACC helps underserved neighborhoods rebuild their communities by collaborating with local organizations and residents for all voices to be heard.
We attend community meetings, provide surveys, and collaborate directly with residents to ensure long-term change for the people who live here.

Facilitation & Collaboration
Utilizing neighborhood collaboration, we create vibrant communities that foster connection, increase safety, and hold on to each neighborhood’s cultural identity.
Whether it be installing long lasting memorials to important figures or planting flowers to brighten a park. We highlight the residents and their cultural history for years to come.

Restore Hope & See Results
Our impact is in the air we breathe. Trees grow greener, sidewalks safer, and local shops busier.
Neighbors gather in parks, volunteer together, and nurture gardens that feed both people and pride. Artists find new spaces to share their voices and sustain their craft.
Some of our most recent projects!
Working with residents of neighborhoods, the City, agencies, businesses, and nonprofits, we turn ideas into real impact: safer streets, greener spaces, thriving businesses, and more engaged communities.
These partnerships help us grow, connect, and use data to guide future projects. Every project brings all of us closer together while we partner for a Re-Imagined St. Louis.
