Are you a seasoned artist, an artist in training, or just starting to get interested in the arts? If so, St. Louis’ MADE Makerspace is worth checking out.
MADE Makerspace, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit located in the Delmar Maker District, brings together makers, artists, designers, and entrepreneurs in one shared space. It’s built around the idea of giving people the tools—and the community—to create, learn, and collaborate.
At any given time, there’s a mix of classes, workshops, and community events happening at MADE. The shared workshop is designed to support creatives at any stage, with access to everything from woodworking tools to 3D printers and sewing equipment. If you’ve ever had an idea, you didn’t quite know how to execute, this is the kind of place that helps bridge that gap. You can browse their monthly calendar to see what’s coming up and find something that sparks your interest.
Classes, training, and workshops are open to members and non-members alike. With a monthly membership, you get access to the shop, along with free group training classes to help you get comfortable using the equipment. If you’re not a member, you can still sign up for individual classes and training for a fee.
On the third Friday of every month, MADE along with other groups in the Delmar Maker District host special experiences and demonstrations for the community. While you’re there, you can grab a bite or a drink from local restaurants and food trucks. The events are family-friendly, open to all, and attendance is free.
They’ve also recently opened a MADE retail store featuring work by St. Louis artists—many of the pieces were created in the makerspace—which adds another layer to how they support local creatives.
It’s the kind of space where ideas don’t just stay ideas—they start to take shape. www.madestl.com to learn more.
